Why water is the oil of future? And how daily car care can save water crisis?

Oil and gold are some of the most widely traded commodities of today. But what if we ask you to add water to that list?

It’s true!

As of December 7, 2020, water is being officially traded at Wall Street! Thanks to global warming and an overwhelming demand for freshwater by the agriculture and industrial sector the water  crisis has escalated so much that some people now refer to water as the oil of future. Ever since, water has become a traded commodity. So the concerns about the shortage of freshwater across the globe have skyrocketed.

For once, people have really begun to think, what if we run out of freshwater one day?Car Care

The thought has spurred a series of reactions across the globe. However, a change in the water usage habits of people is one of the most important factors that can help us cope with this crisis.

One of the biggest consumers of water is the car care industry where crores of liters of water is wasted every day for basic car washWhile most continue cleaning their cars with water, this scarcity has made some people avoid frequently cleaning their cars altogether.

Moreover, people’s concerns over water scarcity have also affected the car cleaning business. Due to the shortage of water, many businesses are closing down. But the good news is, that many other businesses are taking a more sustainable approach to car cleaning by offering waterless car wash services.

In-frequent car cleaning has, however, led to long-term car damage. Therefore, peeling of car coat from its exterior along with other issuesSo, how do we combat water crisis while still taking good care of our car?

Most people seem to do the job of washing their car by themselves, then  they’ll conserve water – not quite true. Car washing at home can cause significantly more water wastage than getting it done by a professional car wash service. Moreover, when you wash a car by yourself, you’re likely to waste more than 300 litres of water per vehicle or even more! So, it’s safe to say a professional car wash service will save more water on car wash and also provide better car care.

Here we have 4 tips of regular car care for you, so you can continue to take good care of your car.

1. Dust off Your Vehicle

Sometimes, just wiping away the layer of dust that has settled over your car is enough to make it look clean and shiny. This will keep you from washing your car often and help save water.

However, in countries such as India, dust settles on vehicles quite frequently. So, dusting might not be sufficient and will lead to scratches on the exterior of your vehicle.

2. Use a Bucket

Using a continuous water source for washing your car can result in significantly more water wastage than using a bucket, and the traditional approach to car wash in IndiaWhile using a bucket might seem like a better alternative,  it ends up using significant amount of water and leaves you wanting more for a cleaner car.

But we all know that if you want to get every nook and cranny of your car thoroughly cleaned, a bucket just won’t do. Hence, using a bucket is not an option when your car hasn’t been cleaned for weeks.

3. Use Recycled Water

A lot of drive-in car wash services offer car washes with recycled water. They have a water recycling plant that recycles that water used in car washes. This allows them to save a lot of water. Even more if they use pressurised flow.

But a water recycling plant requires resources not every car wash business may be able to afford. Also, not all water can be fully recycled.

So ultimately, we are left with only one viable option when it comes to saving water during a car wash.

Going waterless!

Car Care Do’s and Don’ts during the Covid-19 Lockdown

The Covid-19 lockdown has us all on edge, but perhaps this is the time off we’ve all been waiting for to let things cool off and relax. You finally have time to spend at home with your family, a few unproductive days don’t matter as much, and you can take a breather from the everyday hassle of a busy work life.

Pretty much everything these days is at a standstill, which is why your mental and physical health aren’t the only things that need extra maintenance, your car does, too.

So, listen up, folks! We know there’s nothing much you can do about the global pandemic, but what you can do is keep your car in a running condition.

So, here are some dos and don’ts from Fobbu to care for your vehicle during the days of countrywide lockdown!

  • Keep Your Car Running at Least Once a Week

If your car stays parked for way too long, the battery will lose charge. To prevent this, you need to start your car and keep it running for some time at least once a week.

We know, the country is on lockdown and it’s strictly advised not to drive around without a reason, which is why to have the engine running in place may be a good alternative to keep the electronics of your car going.

  • Keep the Moving Parts of the Car Well Lubricated

If your car’s been sitting for too long, there’s a good chance the parts are drying out. The oil settles, seals dry out, and ultimately they all cause damage to your vehicle.

Lubricate the moving parts regularly if your car sits idly for longer than two weeks. So, here’s the next advice for you: lubricate, lubricate, and lubricate.

  • Vent the Interior

When the car’s in use and you drive it around, the interior gets aired out pretty well. But when the car’s not in use for days, the interior can accumulate a foul smell.

So, make sure you clean the interior of the car care, leave the windows open for some time, and keep the AC running to vent any foul smell that may be building inside the car.

  • Covered spots are Your Saving Grace

Parking your car indoors or covered areas is ideal. However, if that is not possible give your car proper maintenance, clean the surface, and then cover it. Car covers will keep your car from collecting dust while they sit in the driveway.

But be sure to clean the car first. Covering up a dirty car will abrade the paint with time.

  • Keep the Car Clean

If your car’s parked out in open space, it will need regular car cleaning. You will have to clean it daily for tree sap or bird droppings since they are acidic in nature and can damage the car paint.

  • Don’t Use the Parking Brake

If you keep the parking brake engaged for too long, there’s a good chance the brake pads and rotor will be jammed against each other. You want to avoid that.

The parking brake collects moisture when engaged for too long, which causes it to stick. So, if you’re planning on leaving the car idle, don’t use the parking brake.

  • Don’t Park on Soft, Permeable Surfaces

Parking on soft surfaces with the tendency to store moisture will allow water particles to travel up into your car’s mechanics, causing it to corrode.

Hard concrete surfaces are the best place to park your car for extended periods of time. If you can’t find a spot on a concrete surface, you can park on gravel.

  • Don’t Park in the same spot for a long time

Parking in the same spot for a long time might result in flat spots on the tyres.  ‘Flat spot’ refers to a badly worn section of a tyre tread. While this might not be physically visible at first, it could cause the driver to feel bumps, thumps, or vibrations while moving.

Moving the car, a little regularly can help avoid flat spots. The other option is to increase the tyre pressure by 3 psi, this will help the tyre retain its shape when standing for long.

At Fobbu, we believe in providing the best car care. Stay safe, stay healthy, and don’t forget your cars while coping with the pandemic.

Impending Water Crisis in India – How Can Waterless Car Wash Help?

With a population that is three times that of the United States, and with water resources that are dwindling at a breakneck pace, India is headed straight for an impending water crisis. One of the major concerns for India is the lack of long-term availability of water resources.

Due to excessive water consumption, India’s overall water availability is running out, fast. While climate change is playing its own role along with growing needs for water, the crisis has plenty to do with the water that is wasted daily.

Did you know that every Indian wastes up to 45 liters of water per day?

Moreover, about 163 million people in India have no access to clean water. Those who do have access waste about 30% of their average water requirement per day. That’s about 125 million liters of water wasted daily. That’s alarming!

Another major reason for water wastage, especially in Metro cities, is daily car wash.

As we head into summer, the water usage to support basic needs will only increase, and that doesn’t bode well for India’s already depleting water resources.

Overall, India has around 308 million cars and the numbers are only going to increase. Mumbai alone has seen the addition of over a million cars in the last five years.

With an average of 25 – 35 liters of water used to wash a single car; the total amount of water used will elevate dangerously.

During these testing times, we at Fobbu have dedicated our efforts to saving water wasted on car wash. With the advent of new technology, we are implementing waterless car wash solutions to save the supply of fresh water in the country. Introducing Eco Car Therapy.

What is Eco Car Therapy?

With Eco Car Therapy we use about 250 ml of water to clean a car. This is more than a 75% reduction in water usage and we strongly believe that this is a solution to our country’s water crisis.

Save Water
5 easy steps you can take EVERYDAY to conserve water!

Okay – so maybe 6 easy ways!

We can’t stress it enough folks – you may already be bearing the brunt of
water cuts at your residence or work place. But, all is not lost yet.

Did you know –
– A 10 minute shower can use more than 80 liters of water.
A bucket-tumbler combo is the best way to go! We also like efficient shower heads.

– We are all for clean teeth and fresh breath. But really, do we need the tap on
while we shine our pearly whites?
Fobbu recommends – a cup! Yes that’s right – it is all the water you need to rinse!

– Almost half our workforce comprises of women (Go ladies!) and we know how important
gadgets are to help in household work.
A dishwasher can use up-to 25 liters of water per load – so a humble request
– ladies (and even gentlemen) run a load only when full!
(BTW this applies to washing machines too.)

– Hearing strange sounds when you sleep? Nope, it is not your friendly neighborhood
ghost. Chances are it is a tap dripping or even a leak in your plumbing.
Get a hold of that plumber (or your handy man husband) right-away!

– And our favorite – using a hose to clean your car.
We have so many things to say about this – not just because this is our business –
but washing cars with water is not right for so many reasons!

Be it summer, winter or even the much awaited monsoon, water-less car care cleans your car
while adding an extra layer of coating that helps REPEL dirt, mud, grime.

Good luck using water to get rid of smells and stains on the inside!

And yes, how did it go when you tried to wash off bird droppings on the windshield?

We could go on and on – or we could ask you to call us for more information.
